You might think Final Fantasy XVI as just the latest in the series of many games developer Square Enix made to revive its now nearly 40-year-old series. But unlike many of these other titles, as fans and developers likewise have said to have had difficulty in reviving the right to vote (despite that still a striking name), FFXVI is not afraid to harness the darkness.
“Like the best Final Fantasies, XVI explores how trauma shapes heroism and what it takes to persevere against impossible odds,” writes Corey Plante in a my city revision. “It’s a dark, mature story. But it just means that the light shines much brighter when good people fight for what is right.”

FFXVI skims over the bottom with a purpose, and by being willing to go there, she seems to pull the series out of a long-term slump. It’s a major fantasy midlife crisis, and both newcomers and longtime fans have already piqued their curiosity an amazing two hour presentation. But both sides likely have questions. This is Final Fantasybut just like that, as you knew it.
No problem. I’m answering all the hottest things on the internet Final Fantasy XVI questions – all you have to do is keep reading.
when is FFXVI publish?
June 22. Those who already have the game installed will get access at midnight.
Are there any pre-order bonuses for Final Fantasy 16?
Yes, and pre-orders are still open. Those who order will receive:
- Cait Sith Charm, which increases the currency (Gil) you get in the game
- The Braveheart weapon
I wouldn’t say either of these bonuses are crucial, but you know, they’re there.
Both the physical and digital Deluxe versions of the game can also be purchased. The physical version comes with a SteelBook case featuring the main character Clive and a cloth map of his home province of Valisthea, and the digital version comes with a “mini” digital artbook and soundtrack.
The physical collector’s edition of the game – which includes Phoenix vs. Ifrit statue and Blood Sword weapon for use in the game – is sold out, if you don’t take the $600 copies at the moment sell on eBay.
Yes, for at least six months, the action role-playing game will be tied to the PS5. Producer Naoki Yoshida confirmed that it would eventually come to PC as well, but it will not be within six months.
Are all Final Fantasy stories related?
Like this, hardly. Although some advantages are consistent throughout the series, such as widespread magic crystalsor the fire demon Ifritboth of which feature mainly FFXVI, Final Fantasy stories exist mostly independently of each other.
Those new to the franchise can close their fan Wikipedia tabs if they’ve been looking at them for too long. There isn’t much of a barrier to entry here.
Meanwhile, like other things Final Fantasy games, FFXVI was first written in Japanese and then translated into English (and other languages), it deviates from expectations by prioritizing English in general.
Yoshida said in 2021 that English dialogue was recorded first and with full facial movement, and thus those who play the game with English dubbing instead of another language will play the most intended image.
Also note that subtitles support more languages than dubbing does. While you can set your subtitles to Arabic or Russian, for example, you can only choose from English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, and Japanese for dubbing.
It’s up to you, but remember that the roughly two-hour demo is the demo portion of the game as a whole, and that your progress carries over to the entire game (other than the unlockables Benedikta, boss of the fightwhich does not save your achievements).
It might be more accurate to think of finishing the demo as finishing the tutorial for the game and then stepping away from it for two weeks to vacuum your couch or something. But if you really must relive it, start a new game instead of your current save file. See if I care.
What is different about FFXVI playback? Is it rotational?
Although this will cause a subset of Final Fantasy traditionalists, FFXVI broadens the series’ shift from the turn-based combat seen in most entries. There is a student in Final Fantasy a new school of real-time combat, but players have the option to choose “story-based” game mode over “action-based” if they’re not as comfortable with real-time, or if they simply prefer to enter the world as a spectator.
Its gameplay decisions don’t come out of nowhere, though. As in the past Final Fantasy games, Eikon’s breath serves as a battle call. Clive directs them for his custom special attack.
Over the years, and not by Square Enix’s intention, the Moogle has become franchise mascot; They are one more picture Final Fantasy delivers from game to game.
First introduced in the 1990s Final Fantasy III, the gray creatures exist somewhere between a koala and a marshmallow, and they tend to be helpful in providing save points or other in-game assistance. They were almost completely cut out FFXVI because of the inconsistent tone of their whole cute deal, but they did eventually get into the gameafter fighting.
“Performance mode changes the appearance of the polygons a bit, and we especially struggled with the Moogle … it just ended up with less fur,” said art director Hiroshi Minagawa in the Square Enix blog this spring. “It ended up looking like a hedgehog! Eventually we ended up putting in some processing specifically for Moogle.” Moogle.
Does it FFXVI have the potential to be the very best Final Fantasy game?
If the prolific Moogle didn’t make it obvious enough to you: yes.
