The AIMS African Masters of Machine Intelligence (AMMI) Scholarship aims to cultivate well-rounded Machine Intelligence (MI) researchers with a focus on fundamental MI research and the development of a wide range of applications to address current and future needs in Africa and globally.

Established in 2003, the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) is the first and largest network of centers of excellence for advanced postgraduate training in mathematical sciences across Africa. AIMS empowers Africa’s youth to shape the continent’s future through education in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), along with public engagement and research. AIMS operates five centers of excellence in South Africa, Senegal, Ghana, Cameroon, and Rwanda.

Scholarship Details for 2024 AIMS African Masters of Machine Intelligence (AMMI) Scholarship For Young Africans

AMMI graduates will pursue careers in leading industrial and public research and development (R&D) laboratories in Africa and other regions. By doing so, they will contribute to the growth and enhancement of the African Machine Intelligence (MI) community and the broader scientific community. These endeavors are expected to yield significant advancements with far-reaching benefits for the global community.

Scholarship Requirements:

The minimum admission criteria encompass the following:

  • A bachelor’s degree in mathematics, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or an officially recognized equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • A commendable academic record, typically achieving a minimum average grade of B (80%) or higher.
  • A demonstrated interest and background in areas such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, as evident in courses taken and previous projects.
  • Willingness to serve as a mentor for an undergraduate student at your previous institution while enrolled at AMMI, as well as agreeing to mentor an AMMI student post-graduation.
  • A strong commitment to addressing national or continental challenges through the application of science and technology.

Scholarship Duration and Reward
