Requirements:

  • Enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate degree program at the time of application or recent graduates from the same.
  • Applicants must demonstrate specialization in a field relevant to FAO’s mission and work.
  • Proficiency in at least one of FAO’s official languages (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, or Spanish) is a prerequisite. Proficiency in a second FAO language is considered advantageous. Only language proficiency certificates from accredited external providers or FAO’s official language examinations (LPE, ILE, and LRT) will serve as proof of language competence as indicated in the online applications.
  • Eligible candidates must hold citizenship in FAO Member Nations.
  • Applicants should fall within the age range of 21 to 30.
  • Demonstrated adaptability to an international, multicultural environment and effective communication skills are essential.
  • Individuals with immediate family members (defined as siblings, parents) employed by FAO under any contractual agreement are ineligible for the Internship Program.
  • Prospective candidates are required to have appropriate residency or immigration status in the proposed duty station before the commencement of the internship assignment.

Duration and Reward

  • FAO pays a monthly stipend to interns if they are not sponsored by sending universities or other entities.
