Scholarship Details for 2024 Friedrich Naumann Foundation Scholarship for International Students
The Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom is a charitable organization based in the Federal Republic of Germany dedicated to advancing liberal principles and providing political education. The scholarship covers full-time Master’s and Ph.D. degree programs in any subject, with the exception of the following: second degrees, LL.M, MBA, part-time degrees, bachelor’s degrees for non-European applicants, doctorate studies in dentistry and medicine, postdoctoral programs, projects, and separate stays abroad.
The scholarships are intended for young individuals who embrace the political ideals of the German liberal party and are eager to assume leadership roles. Applicants can belong to any academic discipline or field of study offered at state-recognized universities of applied sciences or higher education institutions in Germany. Recipients of scholarships from the Foundation for Freedom are considered part of the ‘liberal family’ in Germany.
Scholarship Duration and Reward
- Masters: The scholarship’s worth is up to € 861 per month. In addition, there is a contribution to health insurance. The Foundation also offers non-material support for projects, events and initiatives.
- The minimum funding period is 2 semesters. The scholarships do not have to be paid back. Funding is initially granted for 1 year.
- Extensions up to the end of the course can be granted on request. Study and research stays and internships abroad are not funded.
Full-time Master’s and PhD programs in any field are eligible, with the following exceptions: second degrees, LL.M, MBA, part-time programs, bachelor’s degrees for non-European applicants, dentistry and medicine doctorate studies, postdoctoral programs, projects, and separate stays abroad.
Method of Application
Application documents must be submitted in German, and the selection interview will also be conducted in German, even if you are seeking funding for an English-language course or an English-language doctoral program. Proficiency in German is therefore necessary. The application deadlines are April 30th and October 31st of each year.
